Junk Mail Scrapbook

This album was made from some junk mail that I got years ago.  It was a small box that had a CD inside.   I trashed all the interior of it and made it into a scrapbook.  It had a magnetic closure already, which is why I couldn't throw it away.

Project Ideas and Techniques printed out from the internet - Gotta love it!

These are the piles of project ideas and techniques that I had to sort through.  Now I'll put them in binders, one for techniques, one for projects and one for ideas.  Pfeww!  It will be nice to have them organized and easy to sort through.

Organizing

I've been organizing all the piles of ideas that I've collected over the years.  I've gotten them from the CTMH website, Splitcoast Stampers, and all kinds of other sites.   I figure that if they're organized I might actually do the techniques and make the projects.  The projects are all things that I wanted to make in the first place.  Christmas is coming and I suppose I can make alot of gifts from the ideas.  What a great way to use it up!  I'll be posting photos and videos soon of what I make. 

Also, as a side note, I went to Michaels tonight to pick up a couple things that I needed.  I didn't get any paper, but I did pick up some embellishments and two really cool stamps,  I'll show you what I got later.  Sometimes, I just can't help myself.

Sorting out my decorative paper

I took out all of my "bulk" papers from CTMH and dealt them out like cards until they were all mixed up into piles.  I put the same weight of paper into these bags and now I can sell them as variety packs.  I've rented a table at my neighborhood scrapbook store during their next "garage" sale, where I'll bring this paper.  Feels good to get rid of that.  You know, you hold onto it too long, then it goes out of style.  There are too many "new" papers coming out that are really desireable now.  But you must buy it as you use it.

I remember when I started papercrafting.  My sister got me into cardmaking.  I had some stamps, some stamp pads and some cardstock, I don't think I ever used decorative paper then.  This was about 12 years ago.  Then my other sister got me into scrapbooking, which meant more stuff.  I bought stencils and lots of templates and at that time I began buying die cuts and themed papers.  I never thought to use my stamps in scrapbooking back then.  Everything, even photos, were traced with wax pencils and then cut out with scissors, I didn't have any other cutting tools then.  I kept everything in a 4 drawyer rolling cart from rubbermaid.  It was nice having it all contained and manageable.  Those were the good old days.

I don't know what I love more, actual scrapbooking and cardmaking or buying materials for scrapbooking and cardmaking.  It's like fabric.  When I was sewing all the time, I would buy fabric for this and that and then all of a sudden I had stacks and stacks of fabric.  If you're not careful you will be buried in excess.  I would love to get back to that simpler state of papercrafting.

Kick off video

Finally! I finished the video that will kick off this blog, which is just below this post. MY GOAL: To use it up, and make a dent! That is to make a dent in my paper supply, to use more embellishments, to use more of the artistic mediums I've purchased over the years, to control myself when I shop for new stuff. I have to use more than I buy for this to work.

Oh, I also have to organize my photos so that they are more available and ready to get scrapbooked.

I started a mini album swap group to help "use it up", there's 4 of us. We'll swap a 6" x 6" finished page each month. I will upload those as we go, the first deadline will be October 30th, but may be in before that because everyone is really excited to get going on this project.

I spent yesterday and today organizing my papers and embelly's so that they will be more accessible when I'm looking for them. I organized items according to color and type. I sorted through all the bulk papers that I have and made piles of them to sell at a "garage sale" at a scrapbook store in town. (That will help make a dent, won't it?)
